Ride the Flavor Trail — Terms & Conditions

Last updated: August 2026

Ride the Flavor Trail is a community program operated by William’s Mill Flavor Company in Finland.

The program includes two main participation paths: Scout and Trail Tester. A separate earned recognition level, Trail Boss, may also be granted by William’s Mill.

Participation in Ride the Flavor Trail is subject to these Terms & Conditions.

1. Who Can Participate

Participants must be at least 18 years old.

Participants must reside in a country to which William’s Mill Flavor Company currently ships and must be legally able to receive food products sent from Finland.

No purchase is required to apply as a Trail Tester.

Participation in the Scout program requires access to a William’s Mill product featured in the submitted content, but the product does not have to have been purchased directly from William’s Mill.

William’s Mill may refuse or limit participation where shipping restrictions, legal requirements, sanctions, product restrictions, or other practical circumstances make participation unreasonable or impossible.

2. The Scout Program

Scouts help people discover William’s Mill by creating original public content featuring William’s Mill products.

Qualifying content may include cooking videos, product reviews, recipes, photographs, social-media posts, or other original public content.

The content must substantially feature or discuss a William’s Mill product and must remain publicly accessible long enough for William’s Mill to review the submission.

The content must be the participant’s own work or used with all necessary permissions.

3. Scout Reward Requirement

A Scout may submit qualifying content after it reaches at least 2,000 genuine views on the platform where it was published.

Views must come from legitimate platform activity.

Purchased views, bots, automated traffic, engagement manipulation, falsified analytics, stolen content, or other artificial methods do not qualify.

William’s Mill may request screenshots, platform analytics, or other reasonable evidence before approving a Scout reward.

William’s Mill has the right to reject a submission where the authenticity of the views or content cannot reasonably be verified.

4. Scout Reward

An approved Scout submission earns:

One full-size package of each William’s Mill product in the current standard product lineup at the time the reward is approved.

The Scout reward does not include, unless William’s Mill specifically states otherwise:

  • bundles or multipacks
  • limited-edition products
  • test or development products
  • discontinued products
  • merchandise
  • gift cards
  • imported third-party products
  • products temporarily unavailable from stock

William’s Mill may delay an unavailable product, substitute a comparable product, or omit an unavailable item where reasonably necessary.

Scout rewards have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for cash.

Standard reward shipping is provided by William’s Mill where the program is available. Any customs duties, import charges, or local taxes imposed outside Finland remain the recipient’s responsibility unless otherwise required by law.

5. Scout Reward Frequency

A participant may receive a maximum of one Scout reward during any 90-day period, unless William’s Mill specifically approves an exception.

Participants are welcome to create additional William’s Mill content during that period, but additional qualifying posts do not automatically create additional rewards.

6. Honest Opinions

William’s Mill does not require positive reviews.

Participants must express their own genuine opinions and experiences.

A critical or negative opinion does not automatically disqualify otherwise qualifying Scout content.

William’s Mill will not require a participant to make false, misleading, or exaggerated claims about a product.

7. Disclosure of Commercial Connection

Participation in the Scout program may create a commercial connection because qualifying content can result in free products.

Participants are responsible for complying with applicable advertising, consumer-protection, and social-media disclosure rules.

Where required, commercial content must clearly identify both the commercial nature of the content and William’s Mill Flavor Company as the advertiser.

William’s Mill may provide specific disclosure instructions for particular platforms or campaigns.

A platform’s built-in “paid partnership,” “paid promotion,” or similar tool may not always be sufficient by itself. Participants remain responsible for making the commercial relationship clear to viewers.

8. Trail Tester Program

Trail Testers help William’s Mill evaluate seasonings, blends, and other products that are still in development.

Trail Tester participation is by selection only.

Applying does not guarantee selection.

Selection is not based primarily on follower count, audience size, or social-media popularity.

William’s Mill may consider cooking habits, product experience, reliability, ability to follow instructions, previous feedback, dietary suitability, and the needs of a particular product test.

9. Trail Tester Samples

Selected Trail Testers may receive product-development samples free of charge.

Samples may differ from products eventually offered for sale and may include experimental recipes, alternate versions, or products that are never commercially released.

Trail Tester samples are provided for the assigned test only.

They may not be resold, commercially distributed, repackaged for sale, or represented as finished William’s Mill retail products.

Receiving one Trail Tester sample does not guarantee participation in future tests or entitlement to future products.

10. Trail Tester Responsibilities

Trail Testers may be asked to:

follow specific preparation or cooking instructions;

test a product on a particular food;

compare different versions of a blend;

use specified quantities;

evaluate characteristics such as flavor, aroma, heat, saltiness, texture, or overall usefulness;

and submit feedback by a stated deadline.

William’s Mill values honest and practical feedback.

There is no requirement to give positive feedback.

Repeated failure to complete agreed testing assignments may result in removal from future Trail Tester opportunities.

11. Food Allergies and Dietary Requirements

Ingredient and allergen information will be provided with Trail Tester samples where applicable.

Participants are responsible for reviewing this information before consuming or serving the product.

A participant should not test or consume a product containing an ingredient they cannot safely eat.

Participants must inform William’s Mill of relevant allergies or dietary restrictions when applying or when accepting a test assignment.

12. Confidential or Unreleased Products

Some Trail Tester assignments may involve products, recipes, names, packaging, or concepts that have not yet been made public.

Where William’s Mill clearly identifies information or materials as confidential, the Trail Tester agrees not to publicly share that information until William’s Mill gives permission.

William’s Mill will not treat ordinary feedback or publicly released product information as confidential unless clearly stated.

13. Feedback and Content Ownership

Participants retain ownership of their own photographs, videos, written content, reviews, and other original material.

Submitting a link or feedback to William’s Mill does not transfer ownership of that material to William’s Mill.

William’s Mill may review and retain submitted material as reasonably necessary to administer the program and evaluate products.

William’s Mill will request separate permission before using a participant’s original photograph, video, quote, or other content in advertising or other promotional material where such permission is required.

Product-development feedback, suggestions, tasting notes, and recipe-development comments may be used by William’s Mill to improve, modify, create, or discontinue products without additional compensation.

14. Trail Boss

Trail Boss is an earned recognition level.

There is no application process and no guaranteed method of earning the designation.

William’s Mill may recognize people who have consistently contributed useful feedback, strong community participation, valuable content, product-testing assistance, or other meaningful support.

Trail Boss benefits may change over time and may include early access, special test opportunities, recognition, exclusive samples, or additional involvement in product development.

Trail Boss status does not create employment, partnership, ownership, agency, or contractual rights in William’s Mill Flavor Company.

15. No Employment or Agency Relationship

Participation in Ride the Flavor Trail does not make a participant an employee, contractor, representative, reseller, partner, or agent of William’s Mill Flavor Company.

Participants may not claim to officially represent William’s Mill or enter into agreements on behalf of William’s Mill.

16. Social-Media Platforms

Ride the Flavor Trail is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, X, or any other social-media platform unless specifically stated.

Participants must also comply with the rules and terms of the platform they use.

17. Fraud, Abuse, and Disqualification

William’s Mill may reject a submission or remove a participant from the program where there is reasonable evidence of:

fraud;

false information;

purchased or manipulated engagement;

bots or automated traffic;

stolen content;

falsified screenshots or analytics;

harassment or abusive conduct;

misrepresentation of William’s Mill;

attempted resale of restricted test products;

or other material abuse of the program.

18. Availability and Program Changes

Ride the Flavor Trail is an ongoing community program and does not have a guaranteed end date.

William’s Mill may modify, pause, or discontinue the program or any part of it where reasonably necessary.

Changes may include reward thresholds, available rewards, eligibility, participating countries, testing procedures, or Trail Boss benefits.

Any Scout reward already formally approved before a program change will still be honored, subject to product availability and these terms.

19. Personal Data

Personal information submitted through Ride the Flavor Trail forms will be processed for purposes such as:

administering Scout submissions;

verifying eligibility and qualifying content;

selecting and communicating with Trail Testers;

shipping rewards or samples;

maintaining program records;

and preventing fraud or abuse.

Personal data will be handled in accordance with the William’s Mill Flavor Company Privacy Policy and applicable data-protection law.

20. Limitation of Responsibility

Participants are responsible for using William’s Mill products in accordance with the supplied instructions and ingredient information.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability or consumer right that cannot legally be excluded under Finnish or applicable EU law.

William’s Mill is not responsible for interruptions, deleted posts, lost analytics, platform outages, account restrictions, algorithm changes, or other circumstances controlled by third-party social-media platforms.

21. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by Finnish law.

Mandatory consumer rights under Finnish and European Union law remain unaffected.
